Zhilei Zhang: Joe Joyce was 'scared' in Joseph Parker fight

Zhilei Zhang has warmed to the British public ahead of his heavyweight clash with Joe Joyce this Saturday. Zhang (24-1-1, 19 KOs) has been courting the media this week, including a trip to Chinatown to met by British heavyweight Johnny Fisher.

“He has a great chin and great stamina. I’m the big bang right here, I will bang everything.” Zhang said. A line that brought a laugh to all of those at the official press conference today.

Despite the jovial demeanour from the Chinese Olympic silver medalist, he soon switched the conversation to the task at hand this Saturday in London.

“If you look at his previous fights against Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker, great fighters,” Zhang went on, “but against Joseph Parker from round 1 he was fighting scared and going backwards, running around the ring. When it comes to direct body contact there [haven’t been] any solid punches [that have] landed on Joe Joyce. I will land my shots.”

Not in the mood to make any predictions on the final outcome, Zhang responded to the question - If he can be the first man to stop Joe Joyce?

“I think so. But let's find out on Saturday night when Joe gets in the ring.”
