On Saturday night, an all-British WBA featherweight title bout is taking place at the Sheffield Arena in the United Kingdom. WBA champion Leigh Wood (27-3, 16 KOs) will defend his title against former IBF champion Josh Warrington (31-2-1, 8 KOs). This looks like an all-action brawl that may not get to the final bell in this 12-round title fight.
The champion Wood is coming off of a sensational, unanimous decision victory over Mauricio Lara in May after losing to him three months before by TKO. Wood looked as focused as ever and regained the title he lost convincingly. Now Wood will face Warrington, who he needs to defeat to face the more prominent names in the division.

Warrington is a warrior but is now 32 years old and hasn’t looked his best since the February 2021 loss to Mauricio Lara. His last fight was in December, when he suffered a majority decision loss to Luis Alberto Lopez. Warrington desperately wants that rematch, but a win against Wood puts him in a position to become a champion once again and call the shots for his next opponent.
