Sources: Rocha's ring return is in the works for March

Alexis 'Lex' Rocha's return to the ring "is in the works" for March, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the bout.

It is unclear, as of yet, who the opponent will be but it will be Rocha's first fight since losing to Giovanni Santillan who scored one of the year's best performances at The Kia Forum, in Inglewood, October 2023.

Rocha is one of Golden Boy Promotions' many studs, alongside Ryan Garcia, Vergil Ortiz, Jaime Munguia, Gilberto Ramirez, and new signings Arnold Barboza and Ohara Davies. The Los Angeles-based company has also been linked with Jose Ramirez.

The 26-year-old, who has a pro record of 23 wins (15 KOs) against two defeats, will be looking to rebound in as strong a fashion as he did when he suffered the first loss of his career to Rashidi Ellis back in 2020.

Rocha told ProBox TV in the following years that the loss was one of the best things to happen to his career as he adopted a new strategy, and this led him to victories over the likes of Blair Cobbsm George Ashie, and Anthony Young.

A ProBox TV source close to Rocha told us that they will not likely target a rematch with Santillan, who is presumed to have advanced into a world title shot.

Instead, they will focus on coming again, rebuilding, and getting back into title contention.

A separate ProBox TV source familiar with Golden Boy strategy said the fight will not serve as a co-main to the discussed super fight between Golden Boy star Garcia and super lightweight rival Devin Haney, who dominated Regis Prograis, last month.

Oscar de la Hoya told ProBox TV and other reporters Thursday that the Garcia-Haney contest could take place in March after 'Kingry' instructed de la Hoya to book the fight.

The Rocha and Garcia-Haney events will be two separate shows in the same month.
