Odds based on Betonline.ag: William Zepeda is currently -2500, whereas Jaime Arboleda is sitting at +1100. Looking closer at the odds, Zepeda is -600 to win by KO, TKO or DQ, with Zepeda being a +550 to win a decision. If Arboleda were to win via knockout he sits at +1600, and if Arboleda were to win via a stoppage you can get that currently at +2200. A draw is sitting at +2500.
Information: William Zepeda is looking the part of a future world champion. Zepeda was moved back one week from being featured on the Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia pay-per-view extravaganza, once Vergil Ortiz Jr. was pulled from his upcoming fight against secondary world champion Eimantas Stanionis with a reoccurring bout of rhabdomyolysis. This marks the second time the fight between Ortiz versus Stanionis had been delayed as Stanionis withdrew with appendicitis in January of this year.
Now Zepeda will face Jaime Arboleda, who is best known for being stopped by Chris Colbert in a competitive main event on Showtime Championship Boxing. That said, Zepeda has been extremely respectful of the skillset of Arboleda this week, stating that his opponent is tall and has good movement.
At the press conference on Thursday, Zepeda said the following…
"I dedicate this fight to Vergil Ortiz, Jr.; I hope and wish him a speedy recovery and I hope to see him in the ring soon,” said Zepeda at the press conference."I trained hard for this fight, and I am coming with everything come Saturday night. I want to thank my Mexican fan base and I promise to give the fans a very exciting fight.”
When you have a favorite with 25-to-1 odds, it somewhat tells you what to expect in terms of the fight, but that said, Zepeda might be very special. This is Zepeda’s first fight in 2023 after breaking CompuBox records against former world champion and 2012 U.S. Olympian Joseph Diaz Jr., when Zepeda threw 1,536 punches over the course of a twelve-round fight.
This is a fight that should serve its purpose as to display one of the future stars of the lightweight division in William Zepeda, but you never know in the sport of boxing what will happen.
