What can be expected from the December 23 Saudi Arabia extravaganza?

The boxing world is ready for a significant announcement in London on Wednesday, concerning the enormous December 23 show in Saudi Arabia.

Today has seen numerous boxing personalities posting pictures on planes, flying to London or already in London, including Michael Buffer, Malik Scott and Deontay Wilder, Jai Opetaia and Otto Wallin.

The event is likely to be topped by Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder, but in separate bouts. Wilder will fight experienced New Zealander Joseph Parker with Joshua ready to fight Swedish southpaw Wallin.

It was rumoured that Daniel Dubois might have been in line to return from his unsuccessful challenge of Oleksandr Usyk against Martin Bakole or Dereck Chisora, but it now seems disgraced Jarell Miller has accepted the call.

Dmitrii Bivol is likely to appear on the bill, with Lyndon Arthur thought the man most likely to be in the opposite corner. Arslanbek Makhmudov could fight Agit Kabayel and Filip Hrgovic might get a run out, while heavyweight prospect Frank Sanchez is being matched with Junior Fa and the cruiserweight rematch between Jai Opetaia and Mairis Briedis could take place on the bumper show.

Rumours are flying everywhere. Many are staying tight-lipped.

A press conference tomorrow evening will see the next layer of the grand plans of Turki Alalshikh in boxing unveiled to the world. Alalshikh was pictured with Joshua and Eddie Hearn on social media this week.

It seems the event will be promoted by Queensberry, in association with other promoters from around the world, including Matchroom.
