'King' Callum Walsh receives NABF Newcomer of the Year Award

Orlando, FL (September 9, 2023) In his first trip to the Sunshine State, The Fastest Rising Star in Boxing‘King’ Callum Walsh was awarded the prestigious North American Boxing Federation’s (NABF) ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award on Friday afternoon at their 53rd Annual Convention in the Caribe Royale Orlando.

Said the 22-year-old native of Cork, Ireland, “It’s a big honor to be recognized so early in my career for my achievements. I am very grateful to the NABF and will continue to make them proud as their champion carrying the green belt.”

Walsh was accompanied on the cross-country trip from his training camp in Los Angeles by his promoter Tom Loeffler, President of 360 Promotions. “It’s great to see Callum getting this award, I know it will be the first of many that he will be earning. He’s earned every bit of it and it will go well with his title belt.”

Stated Duane Ford, President of the NABF, “We are very proud of our young champion Callum Walsh and he is very deserving of this award. He fights well beyond his years and we look for great things to come from him in the future.”

An additional presentation was made to Walsh by Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Council with a WBC Mini-Belt Armband. Each prior recipient was a WBC World Champion with Walsh being the first non-world champion to obtain the additional award.

Walsh has quickly impressed as a professional compiling a sparkling record of 8-0 with seven knockouts since turning professional in December 2021. Now based in Los Angeles, CA, the hard-hitting southpaw is trained by Hall of Famer, Freddie Roach at the famed Wild Card Boxing Gym.

Walsh currently holds the WBC US Silver Super Welterweight Title as he headlines boxing events broadcast globally by international streaming giant, UFC FIGHT PASS.

Fighting on August 26, 2023, Walsh made the first defense of his title, stopping the more experienced Juan Jose Velasco, (24-5, 15 KOs), after four rounds in their scheduled ten-round bout. Click HERE to Watch.
