The undercard is starting to take shape for the Cinco de Mayo weekend showdown headlined by the undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and the undefeated Jaime Munguia.
Super welterweight contender Vito Mielnicki (17-1, 12 KOs) will take on Ronald Cruz (19-3-1, 12 KOs) in a 10-round fight on May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, said Mielnicki.
The Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) pay-per-view event will be presented on Prime Video, DAZN, and PPV.com.
The 21-year-old Mielnicki has turned into a PPV card mainstay for PBC – five out of his past seven fights have been featured on a PPV event.
Mielnicki is riding a nine-fight winning streak after suffering a surprise majority decision loss in his ninth pro fight.
The New Jersey native Mielnicki scored a first-round stoppage with one punch in December against Salim Larbi.
The 32-year-old Cruz hasn’t had the same success in his recent fights. He’ll bring a record of 1-2-1 spanning his past four contests.
The Los Angeles-based Cruz’s past two losses have come against Xander Zayas and Damian Sosa. Cruz got back into the win column in December with a unanimous decision win in El Salvador.
