LAS VEGAS: We have a fight set for Saturday at the Virgin Hotels, an off-strip resort in Las Vegas, as Vergil Ortiz and Fredrick Lawson both made weight Friday ahead of their headline bout at the same venue atop a Golden Boy Promotions show.
Here are the weights:
- Ortiz: 156-pounds
- Lawson: 152.4-pounds
It is Ortiz's first fight since scalping Michael McKinson in the ninth round of a welterweight fight in Fort Worth, Texas — his only bout since August, 2021.
Ortiz has had health issues in recent years and fights at a higher weight this weekend.
He told ProBox TV this week that he wants to be active throughout the year, fighting three to four times.
