Vasiliy Lomachenko Favors Tank Over Ryan Garcia…Here Is Why

Vasiliy Lomachenko is widely regarded as one of the best fighters of his era, due to his accolades and accomplishments, most notably being the fastest male boxer to win three world titles in three different division, taking only 12 fights for it happen. Add to the fact that his trophy room has to two-Olympic gold medals, and you’re looking at iconic fighter of any era, and a man who was natural featherweight who spent most of his career fighting above his optimism weight class. 

With speculation furthering over the weekend that Ryan Garcia will seemingly fight Gervonta “Tank” Davis, rumored for Showtime Pay-Per-View, April 15 in Las Vegas, when spotted at this weekend’s fights in Pomona, California, Lomachenko’s views on this fight was one of the major talking points for the prizefighter. 

“It depends on how they prepare for this fight, if they prepare 100%. It will be very, very interesting and very hard, tough for both because they understand boxing,”  Lomachenko stated to a group of reporters gathered around him at the Fox Theater in Pomona, California, after the modern classic that was Luis Nery versus Azat Hovhannisyan.

“I think, my opinion, Gervonta Davis will win because he is very technical, he has the power, he has the speed, and he knows how he needs to move, and he always fights guys who are bigger than him,” furthered Lomachenko.“I think Davis will finish him."

On Saturday it was reported by Mike Coppinger of ESPN.com, that the mega-fight between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia will happen as both contracts are signed, with a pending announcement coming soon.

“Both Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia signed contracts for an April 15 super fight in Las Vegas at a 136-pound catchweight, sources tell ESPN,” tweeted ESPN.com's Mike Coppinger. “DAZN, which broadcasts Garcia's fights, received a contract from Showtime today, and that portion should be finalized by end of weekend [February 20th].”

 

When you think of legend’s in the sport of boxing Vasiliy Lomachenko is one of them. The two-time Olympic gold medalist, who also was the fast to win three world titles in three different weight classes doing so in only twelve fights, is often a man media wants insight from when it comes to big fights. 

When Lomachenko was spotted this weekend at a fight in Pomona, California, Lomachenko gave his take on Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia, a fight that according to Mike Coppinger of ESPN.com has been signed and should be announced soon.

Per Coppinger, both sides have signed contracts for the April 15th super-fight in Las Vegas, Nevada at a 136 lbs catchweight, sources tell ESPN.

As for Lomachenko’s opinion, though he thinks it will be an interesting fight, Lomachenko favors Davis to win based on Davis’ skill, power, and speed.
