Usyk vs. Dubois: Preview, Prediction & Betting Odds

The heavyweight title will be on the line this Saturday live on ESPN+. Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) will defend his titles against 25-year-old Daniel Dubois (19-1, 18 KOs). The fight will have everyone’s attention, as does every fight with the heavyweight crown on the line. Will Dubois pull the upset in Poland, or will Usyk continue to show why he is the man to beat in the heavyweight division?

WILL OLEKSANDR USYK PUT ON ANOTHER BOXING CLINIC IN POLAND?

The answer to that question is a big YES. The heavyweight division's mistake was allowing Usyk to continue taking on these contenders, which will only give him experience as a heavyweight and make him more comfortable. Fans weren’t sure if Usyk would make it in the heavyweight division as he was relatively small, but his body has grown into it in the past few years. He now looks like a heavyweight and can still do the things he is known for: his outstanding footwork and boxing skills. We are in the era of Usyk, and he will have to keep taking these mandatory challenges until he can get Tyson Fury in the ring. That’s the fight everyone wants to see, but the question is, will we ever see it? First, Usyk has to handle his business on Saturday night against a tough, young but beatable heavyweight contender.

IS DANIEL DUBOIS READY TO BECOME THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP?

Dubois was the next darling heavyweight to come out of the U.K. since Anthony Joshua, and although many media members have claimed him to be the next heavyweight champion, it wasn’t a thought I shared with them. He does have good power and can take a shot, but he is slow. The new crop of heavyweights is more athletic, and the current unified champ fights like a middleweight than a heavyweight. All things that spell trouble for Dubois. His only loss was to Joe Joyce in 2020, and he’s just as robotic as Dubois. Unless he has completely changed his style, Dubois will get outboxed for 12 rounds on Saturday night, and it won’t be pretty. Is Dubois ready to be a heavyweight champion? He can be one day, but it won’t be against Usyk this weekend.

OLEKSANDR USYK VS. DANIEL DUBOIS PREDICTION

Although Dubois was hyped up to be this monster out of the U.K., he hasn’t entirely lived up to that and has fallen short when the lights were the brightest. Saturday night will be no different as Usyk will box his way to a unanimous decision victory and once again demand the fight with Tyson Fury.
