Usyk Promoter on Tyson Fury: He is the Next Opponent For Usyk

The promoter of unified heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk has reaffirmed that it s the intention of the Ukrainian to pursue a fight with WBC world heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury. Aleksandr Krassyuk, the longtime handler of the Ukrainian stated that it is their intention to unify all four world title belts despite Fury fighting Derek Chisora scheduled for December 3rd.

Talks between Usyk and Fury had provisionally commenced following Usyk’s rematch victory against Anthony Joshua in August but it quickly transpired that Usyk would not be ready for a contest for undisputed world title glory till 2023. It was at this point that Fury sought a fight with Anthony Joshua till those talks collapsed which ultimately lead to a deal with Chisora of which will see the pair fight for the third time. Usyk himself was seeking a possible encounter with the former WBC world champion, Deontay Wilder of which Usyk’s promoter was ringside to witness Wilder in his return to action with a first-round knockout of Robert Helenius. Krassyuk remains interested in making a deal for a fight with Wilder but reaffirmed that the intention is to become an undisputed champion at heavyweight and fight Fury to copy the same feat which Usyk did with the cruiserweight world titles.

Speaking to ESNEWS,

“He’s calling everyone a dosser, asking everyone for more money, he wants to fight (against top fighter), but he’s fighting Chisora a third time,” Krassyuk told ESNews. “At the end of the day, it is what it is. He is a big star. He is the WBC heavyweight champion, and in case he is unlucky, on December the 3rd, he is the next opponent for Oleksandr Usyk.”

“Absolutely yes, absolutely yes,” Krassyuk said of a Uysk-Wilder match. “As a fan, I would love to see that fight happen, but the thing is that from the first time that Usyk stepped into the ring our objective was to collect all the belts. We made it in cruiserweight and now we are on our way to making it in heavyweight.”
