Tyson Fury Suggests Fight Announcement Coming Very Soon

WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has announced that he is set to return to the ring soon with a “fight date imminent”, he stated on social media.

Fury, who has not been in action since December last year following a stoppage victory over Dereck Chisora, has seen trials and tribulations in an attempt to secure an undisputed heavyweight title showdown with unified world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. Talks ultimately collapsed, with percentages regarding a possible rematch purse-split not being agreed upon. Fury insisted that if defeated in any initial encounter, the purse split for any rematch would be 50/50 between himself and Usyk.

This is despite insisting to Usyk, to which he ultimately agreed, to take only 30 % of the purse split for an initial encounter. However, as previously stated, talks collapsed for the potential April 29th fight, which would have been held at Wembley Stadium in London.

Fury stated, “I’ve got some massive, massive news, an imminent fight date,” he said. “[It’s] an absolutely monstrous fight.

“Keep tuned because the WBC world heavyweight king is back in action very, very soon.

“Peace out.”

It is highly likely that Fury will return to action on July 22nd with former unified (WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO) world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr suggested to be the leading contender to face Fury according to promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank. Zhilei Zhang, who halted Joe Joyce this past weekend, is also a contender to face Fury, whom Zhang called out to face him in China.
