Tommy Fury Beats Jake Paul

Tommy Fury (9-0, 4 KOs) will forever be known as the fighter to hand Jake Paul his first loss, as Fury got a split-decision win on Sunday night at Diriyah Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Fury, the half-brother of Tyson Fury was able to double the output, and double the landed punches per CompuBox’s numbers, which made for the result, at least in my mind not to be too hard to decipher, who was winning.

“For the past two years, this is all that has consumed my life. Broken rib. Denied access. Everybody thought I was running scared. Tonight, I made my own legacy. I am Tommy Fury,” said Fury after the fight. “All through these past two years, I had a dream and a vision that I would win this fight. And no one believed me. Now I can stand up and everybody can take note. It’s my first main event at 23 years old. I had pressure on my shoulders, and I came through.”

Losing points was a another notable fact about this fight. Paul lost a point, then Fury was deducted a point for holding, as well as a well-timed jab dropped Fury in the eighth-and-final round.

“All respect to Tommy. He won. Don’t judge me by my wins. Judge me by my losses,” said Paul afterward. “I’ll come back. I think we deserve that rematch. It was a great fight. It was a close fight. I don’t know if I agree with the judges. I got a 10-8 round twice. So, it is what it is. I’ve already won in life, man. I’ve already won in every single way. I have an amazing family. Amazing friends. Amazing work ethic. I’ve made it farther than I ever thought I would.”

In the co-main event, legendary fighter, Badou Jack, became a three-division world champion as he stopped WBC cruiserweight world champion Ilunga Makabu to capture the WBC
cruiserweight title, via a twelfth round stoppage.

“I was standing there too much. My trainer told me to box and move. That’s not really my style. I mean, I box. But I also like to come forward and fight,” said Badou Jack of his performance. “Makabu is a hell of a fighter. He’s an African brother of mine. We used to be training partners. He is still my brother.”

Script.

Jake Paul is no longer undefeated. Jake Paul, the social media star, and influencer has lost to the half-brother of Tyson Fury in Tommy Fury, via a split-decision.

Though quite entertaining the story of the fight was simple. Fury was landing two punches and Paul was landing one. The CompuBox numbers paint this exact picture as well, with Fury landing nearly double, and nearly throwing double as opposed to Paul.

After the fight, an overjoyed Fury made sure to tell the world that he had accomplished his goal, and now made his own legacy in the sport.

As for Paul, Paul wants you not judge him by his wins, but how he handles losses, and that he will be back soon.
