Australian star and son of legendary boxer Kosta Tszyu, Tim Tszyu is now in Los Angeles, California, as he finishes up his training camp for a January 29th showdown with the undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo.
The fight which will take place on Showtime in Las Vegas, Nevada, has no official venue cited as of now. Despite his star-status Tszyu is a healthy underdog to Charlo, who is riding a career-high as of now.
“I’ve got a big task ahead of me, there’s no denying that,” Tszyu told the tremendous outlet WA Today. “I’m no stranger to this. I accept any challenge and this is the biggest challenge there is out there right now.
Tszyu made his U.S. debut in his last fight when he beat Terrell Gausha a hard-fought contest.
“I get to eliminate distractions,” Tszyu said. “I haven’t had that for a long time. I feel like I haven’t achieved nothing until I get these four belts around my waist. For me, I haven’t done nothing yet.
Tszyu who went to Thailand to get in-shape feels this will be the perfect finale to the biggest camp of his career. Tszyu explains that focusing on training in the United States will help him become a better fighter.
“Once I defeated Jeff Horn, it sort of became, I don’t know, boring. If you’re surrounded by people that are obviously a little bit higher in class, you grow as a fighter ... we’ve got plenty of talent here in Australia but not as much [in the U.S.A.].”
