As first reported by ProBox TV News, TGB Promotions put in the winning purse bid for the upcoming bout between current WBA super featherweight world champion Hector Luis Garcia and number-one contender, Lamont Roach Jr. The amount was not disclosed at the time of this report, but we were notified that along with TGB Promotions, a second bid was made by Lamont Roach Sr., the father of Lamont Roach Jr., under his promotional banner, No Xcuses Promotions.
As of the time of this report, no word has been given on where the event will take place or when it will occur.
Hector Luis Garcia is currently coming off a ninth-round technical knockout loss to Gervonta Davis, as Garcia moved up to the lightweight division to face Davis on pay-per-view in January of this year.
Prior to the loss, Garcia had won two consecutive bouts on Premier Boxing Champions platforms upsetting Chris Colbert and then defeating WBA super featherweight world champion, Roger Gutierrez. Despite losing to Davis, his belt was not on the line for the pay-per-view attraction bout.
Roach Jr., is currently riding a four-fight win streak with his last win being in July of 2022 when he got a ten-round unanimous decision over Angel Rodriguez. As also reported prior to this week, Lamont Roach Jr is now a promotional free agent and no longer promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.
