Mike Coppinger of ESPN.com confirmed that Teofimo Lopez will in fact fight two-division world champion Jose Pedraza on December 10th, which will be Lopez’s second bout at 140 lbs.
The fight which will be an ESPN main event, happening after the Heisman Trophy presentation, will see Lopez vs. Pedraza taking place from Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
The other option for this fight date was revealed by Keith Idec of BoxingScene.com to be Sandor Martin, who upset Mikey Garcia in Fresno, California, a year ago.
Pedraza, who held a world title at 130, and 135 lbs., will face Lopez after getting a draw with Richard Commey on August 27th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prior to that Pedraza lost to Jose Ramirez in Fresno, California, eight rounds to four on all three scorecards.
