Teofimo Lopez Now Faces Sandor Martin, Dec. 10th

Teofimo Lopez will now have a new opponent for his December 10th fight at Madison Square Garden, in New York City, New York, which will take place right after the Heisman Trophy ceremony.

Per Mike Coppinger of ESPN.com, who was first to report of the change in the opponent, Jose Pedraza is now out of the fight due to a non-COVID-19 illness, and is being replaced with Sandor Martin, the man who upset Mikey Garcia.

The news is confusing. I think Pedraza is probably the better fighter, but Martin has a ton of momentum, and has his confidence at an all-time high as well as a southpaw.

Teofimo Lopez made his debut at 140 lbs against Pedro Campa, who he stopped in seven rounds. That ended a nine-month absence from the ring after his first career loss to George Kambosos Jnr.

This fight will be the main event on ESPN.
