Teddy Atlas Thinks Anthony Joshua Is Overrated

Anthony Joshua might be the LeBron James of the U.K., but hall-of-fame trainer, Teddy Atlas is not one who sees everything the fans see.

Joshua is currently at a major career crossroads with his two wins over the course of his last five fights being against an out-of-shape Andy Ruiz Jr., and Kurbat Pulev. A lot of question are fair to asking about Joshua’s greatness.

“With respect, fans in the UK love a good loser," Atlas said on his podcast, The Fight With Teddy Atlas. “I can’t say it any clearer or give you any better reason for it. Who has he beat? I say it again, who has he beat? He’s lost and he’s lost by knockout. Alright, the last two to Usyk, he got hurt, he lost by decision, he showed heart….But he got knocked out by Ruiz who took the fight on last minute notice. I really believe that Joshua has always been overrated, but he can bring in big money.”

It is clear after Anthony Joshua’s meltdown in the ring a lot of questions will be asked of his future, and of his legacy in general. The voices of descent, not unlike what Atlas is saying will be louder and louder if Joshua is unable to win some big fights in the future as Joshua is looking to be the U.K.’s next Frank Bruno, as of right now.
