It’s a big week in Las Vegas, NV, as there will be a Formula One race and a WBC lightweight title fight. Two-division champion and undefeated Shakur Stevenson (20-0, 10 KOs) will face Edwin De Los Santos (16-1, 14 KOs) live on ESPN. It’s a Thursday night card, as the attention will be mainly on Formula One heading into the weekend. The title is on the line as the lineal lightweight champion Devin Haney faces Regis Prograis early next month for the WBC junior welterweight title.
Stevenson is the ultimate pugilist but has pressed the issue of trying to stop fighters. In April, Stevenson stopped Shuichiro Yoshino in the sixth round at a sold-out crowd in Newark, NJ. Fight fans have been hard on Stevenson as his fights have lacked action and are one-sided unanimous decisions. He knows that he also has to stop some of his fighters to gain the attention of the purists and the casual audience. De Los Santos will be tough, so seeing how this fight plays out on Thursday night will be interesting.

De Los Santos is a tough, 24-year-old fighter who was impressive against Joseph Adorno, earning a unanimous decision victory over him in July. After fighting three times last year, De Los Santos has been more active in the ring, so will that play in his favor against Stevenson?
