Stephen Shaw Eyes Big 2023 With Nov. 22nd Fight

Heavyweight Stephen Shaw will face Rydell Booker on November 22nd, at the Edison Ballroom in Manhattan.

“I feel Rydell is durable, he is the only guy I have fought that has faced a former world champion in James Toney,” said Shaw when talking to The Boxing Shop on ITRBoxing.com's YouTube. “I am taking him very serious, I am in training camp in San Diego, and he is just another guy.”

The fight will be Shaw’s third fight of 2022, as he targets big fights next year.

“I’ve been in the ring and sparred Frank Sanchez for 15 rounds, and I have sparred Deontay Wilder maybe a 100 rounds, Andy Ruiz 20-plus rounds, and I feel I am right up there with those guys,” said Shaw who is nicknamed “Big Shot”. “[in response to how he feels about being so good, but not getting TV fights when other heavyweights do get those spots] Well, sometimes I feel sometimes that’s the reason. I feel if they saw I was vulnerable in the gym, I would be getting lined up to fight these guys. For instance, I was about to fight Jermaine Franklin on Ring City USA platform….he pulled out [on the travel day]. The day we arrived to New York, because we were going to fight in upstate New York, we actually landed, I think in Jersey. As soon I landed they [told me] Franklin pulled out the fight.”

Shaw is one of the most exciting modern heavyweights and now with promotional backing, he is looking to get the big fights. Winning on November 22nd is the first step, and then more chances will be afloat for him.
