“Speedy” Ellis Steals The Show At Press Conference

Welterweight Rashidi “Speedy” Ellis might not be one many would’ve thought would have created the most fodder from today’s press conference, but he did.

The welterweight, who is facing Roiman Villa got into two back-and-forth exchanges with Villa, and possible future rival, Jaron “Boots” Ennis providing the most memorable moments out of a predictably dull press conference.

“I am going to beat him real bad,” said Ellis when referring to his opponent stating that Villa’s team has taken to social media to trash-talk him.

The fight which will serve as the second fight on the pay-per-view portion of the Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Luis Garcia lightweight title fight this Saturday January 7 from Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

“Savage with a smile,” Ellis stated as he looked over at Villa with a grin reflecting on Villa who had words for him, after Ellis explained how he was going to beat up Villa.

Press conference host, Brian Custer, brought up the man next to Ellis, Jaron “Boots” Ennis and asked if he saw a future fight between the two of them. This caught Ennis’ attention, who never looked away from Ellis. The two would bicker, as it appears Ellis was offered a fight with Ennis for this card, but Ellis didn’t like the money offered.

The animated exchange between the two brought the most lively action out of fight week that has been rather mellow, despite being a pay-per-view card with one of the sport’s biggest stars.

Ellis has accomplished mission one, which is make some noise. Now he needs to follow it up with a big performance this weekend.
