Smith & Maxwell make weight ahead of British & Commonwealth title encounter

Dalton Smith (14-0) and Sam Maxwell (17-1) both weighed in successfully ahead of July 1st’s British & Commonwealth super-lightweight title encounter between the two former team GB podium squad members, with the fight taking place at the Sheffield Arena, South Yorkshire.

Both fighters weighed in the same at 139.4 lbs as Smith looks to defend his British title for the third time and, if successful, will be seeking to move onto bigger and better things as Matchroom Boxing continues to build the popular Sheffield fighter into a prominent and leading fixture within the Matchroom stable. Maxwell currently holds the Commonwealth title and will be defending the title for the first title since claiming the title from Akeem Ennis Brown in August of 2021.

The chief support sees 2020 Olympic silver medalist Pat McCormack (4-0) take a big step up in opponent calibre and face the popular and well-travelled Tony Dixon (14-4) in a super-welterweight encounter scheduled for ten rounds.
