Unless you were a hardcore fight fan you probably didn’t know who Vladimir Shishkin was until Saturday night.
As the unbeaten contender outpointed former champion Jose Uzcategui to become the IBF super middleweight #1 contender. The current champion being Canelo Alvarez.
"I came to America, and I've been living here for the last few years, to reach my goal and become world champion,” said Shishkin. ”This is a big step in that direction. It was a big chance for me and I took advantage of it.”
Shishkin did what he needed to do to win as he outlanded his opponent 238 to 162 in total punches landed.
"I want all the big names at 168 pounds,” said Shishkin. “Canelo is the champion right now and I'll be ready to give him all he can handle.”
