Shawn Porter Speaks On Crawford vs. Spence

The typically reserved Shawn Porter was surprisingly loud when it came to Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr.

The doomed fight that many hoped would happen this year, now seems to be in trouble as the WBO welterweight champion, Crawford is taking on David Avanesyan in Omaha, Nebraska, on an upstart streaming platform called BLK Prime.

“Terence needs somebody else to represent him and speak to Mr. Haymon, because Mr. Haymon is not going to respect him as a businessman,” Porter told Tha Boxing Voice. “We already know you throw the fists. What substantial [business] are you coming to me with. It is what it is.”

Porter doubled down on the podcast saying.

“Nobody’s gonna respect Terence Crawford as a businessman until they see some business moves happen and they start to say, ‘OK, he knows what he’s talking about. He’s legit. But this first shot, trying to get it with Errol and doing it on your own ain’t gon get it done.”

The whole argument between Spence and Crawford is a lot of he-said, she-said, right now, but it is clear that Porter thinks Crawford needed to meet Spence somewhere in the middle to get the fight done.
