Shane Mosley Jr tells Michael Zerafa 'if you need a dance partner, I''ll be your huckleberry'

Shane Mosley Jr. might have competed his last two bouts at the super middleweight limit, but ahead of his scheduled bout with D'mitrius Ballard, the son of the hall of fame boxer with the same name, is targeting a world title run in the middleweight division.

Mosley, who is the co-feature of the Jaime Munguia vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko fight card taking place June 10th, at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California, which will be broadcast exclusively on the sports-streaming platform, DAZN.

Mosley made his intentions clear when speaking to ProBox TV News in the lead-up to this upcoming fight.

“I [have] to show up and show out, I got to bring my A-game to get past [Ballard],” said Mosley Jr., when speaking to ProBox TV News. “I am ready to show everybody that I am going to be a middleweight world champion…[I need to] put on a great performance and fingers crossed stop him. That lands me a big fight.”

Mosley Jr. is currently riding a two-fight win streak, with a win over Gabriel Rosado, which some consider the biggest win of his career. Mosley Jr., who is training with Clarence “Bones” Adams, in Las Vegas, Nevada, is making it known he is targeting all the world champions from this point forward.

It appears that Zerafa is the name he is targeting. More so, if Mosley can win without taking much damage or win quickly, he is hoping to return in August as he believes Zerafa will be featured on the Danny Garcia versus Erislandy Lara card that is heavily rumored for August 5th. It also is quite clear that Mosley Jr. seems that for the time being, Munguia is no longer around his weight class despite the two fighting on the same card.

“From my understanding, [Michael Zerafa] has a fight on the [August 5th, Danny Garcia versus Erislandy Lara] card,” said Mosley Jr about his future plans. “From him stepping down, [Zerafa] was going to get a fight on that card, and if he needs a dance partner for that day for the mandatory spot - I’ll be your huckleberry.”

If he can land the Zerafa fight, and win that - Mosley Jr. doesn’t want to stop there. Mosley Jr. is hopeful that he could pursue a fight all the way to the top as he would look to follow the WBA route to a world title.

“I want to fight the winner of Lara and Danny Garcia,” said Mosley Jr. “Those are two legends right there, they are in my weight class. Shane Mosley Jr. against either one of those names, [that would be a] dream come true."
