Shakur Stevenson Talks About Upcoming Bout, April 8th

Shakur Stevenson will face Shuichiro Yoshino on April 8th in Newark, New Jersey, at the Prudential Center, and was talking about his upcoming fight after supporting his training partner Richardson Hitchins who got a one-sided win over John Bauza on Saturday night in New York City.

“It’s a thing with these fans…if I was fighting the tall dude, Japanese dude [Nakatani], the world would be like ‘this is a great test for Shakur at 135 [lbs]’, [Yoshino] knocked [Nakatani] out,” said Stevenson to FightHub TV backstage. “If fight fans do their homework they will understand why I am fighting this fight. I tried [to get] Isaac Cruz, I tried [William] Zepeda, I tried all of the guys in the [WBC rankings] before [Yoshino], and it didn’t work out. They did want to fight me.”

Stevenson is viewed as a future pound-for-pound #1 fighter, and his return to the ring is being heavily anticipated given his talent.
