It certainly feels like a new era of lightweights are here, and that Vasiliy Lomachenko might slowly becoming the past.
One young fighter, agrees with this thought process as Shakur Stevenson took to his social media to give his thoughts on Lomachenko’s win over Jamaine Ortiz this past weekend.
“He’s not the same fighter he used to be,” said Stevenson via social media. “Too slow and old looking.”
Lomachenko, a revolutionary fighter, who fought for a world title in his second fight, and won a world title in his third fight now is having to fend off a younger, bigger fighter, while being the smaller man in each bouts.
By no means is Lomachenko old at 34-years-old, but for an athlete, you have to start to wonder if he will ever be the same again.
Stevenson made it clear what he thinks.
“Dev smokes him,” said Stevenson.
It is rumored that Devin Haney, the undisputed four-belt lightweight world champion will face Lomachenko next in early 2023.
