The Rumor Mill returns on August 2nd, and it is only right after the biggest fight of the year we return with the rumor mill. Here is what we are hearing...
- A rumor is currently floating that Gervonta Davis versus Chris Colbert could be in play for later this year.
- Jermell Charlo might be fighting Canelo Alvarez on September 30th, but it appears that talks could happen for a future fight with Terence Crawford, as Crawford taunted Charlo who was ringside after stopping his stablemate, Errol Spence Jr.
- Errol Spence Jr., posted the following to his IG story today 'I was brought up n old law where men [don't] make excuses...even if I had one I wouldn't give it to you [SIC].' Could Spence be alluding to some form of injury or not being at the top of his game heading into the fight?
- A fall clash between Shakur Stevenson and Vasiliy Lomachenko could be in the works - the big question is what would it be for? The vacant WBO lightweight world title or both the WBO and WBC lightweight title, as Devin Haney has petitioned the WBC to allow him to keep his WBC lightweight world title while he moves up and looks to challenge Regis Progras, the WBC junior welterweight world champion. Haney is now the WBC lightweight champion-in-recess, so we will have to see if it will be for a vacant unified world title or simply just one belt.
- Oscar De La Hoya took to Twitter to state he felt that Terence Crawford versus his fighter, Vergil Ortiz Jr., would be a big fight one day.
- Oscar De La Hoya also stated that an offer for Jaime Munguia to face Edgar Berlanga is up to DAZN Boxing - as through the social media platform Twitter, De La Hoya stated the winner would be in line to face Canelo Alvarez.
- David Benavidez has a rumored opponent of Demetrius Andrade for later this year.
- David Benavidez versus Jaime Munguia seems to be off the table for the time being, with both fighters rumored for other bouts.
- It is rumored that some news that is 'big' and unexpected will be announced from Premier Boxing Champions this week.
