“People that say Haney is boring, it is not that Haney is boring,” said the hall-of-famer fighter Roy Jones Jr. “Here’s the scenario, if I can swim, which I can just a little bit, but if I was a good swimmer, put me in an Olympic pool and I will show you.”
The metaphor being - it is up to George Kambosos Jnr., who lost all four of his lightweight world titles to Devin Haney earlier this year, to do more than wait and counterpunch Haney, who won using an effective jab. Jones furthered his point by explaining if he could swim well, he would not swim in a body of water that had sharks in it.
Why? It creates too much risk.
It is Kambosos Jnr., to force Haney to be exciting come fight night.
Jones is simply stating what we all feel, that for this fight to be exciting Kambosos Jnr has to take chances, and with a completely new team behind him - we’re not sure what type of Kambosos Jnr we will see.
