One of the most intriguing unifications of the year occurs this Saturday night on DAZN from the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. WBO flyweight champion Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez (18-0, 11 KOs) will go up against IBF champion Sunny Edwards (20-0, 4 KOs) in a fight that has been building for quite some time.
Rodriguez was last seen muscling through a broken jaw to earn a unanimous decision over Christian Gonzalez Hernandez in April. Rodriguez was nursing that injury for months, and it was not until a little over a month ago that he could begin sparring again. Will the injury be an issue for this fight, or will Rodriguez utilize his high Ring IQ to become a unified champion?

Edwards is a wild card who uses his athleticism and quick feet to earn decision victories. He was last in the ring in June when he cruised to a one-sided unanimous decision victory over Andres Campos. Edwards will have his hands full against Rodriguez, but he’s a fighter who isn’t shy about showing his confidence level, so it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out. The odds are tight, but they slightly favor Rodriguez for this big unification bout.
