Premier Boxing Champions and Amazon confirm multi-year broadcast agreement

Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) have confirmed they have inked a multi-year broadcast deal, as earlier reported by ProBox TV, with streaming platform Amazon Prime.

PBC joins fellow promotional entities, such as Matchroom Boxing, Golden Boy Promotions, and Top Rank, in signing broadcast agreements with primarily streaming services.

The deal comes following the announcement of longtime broadcasting partner Showtime’s that they will be leaving the industry to focus on other avenues and that boxing was not part of their future after 37 years. The network’s upcoming broadcast, headlined by David Morrell and Sena Agbeko on December 16 at The Armory in Minneapolis, will be the network’s final show.

PBC had been linked to possible deals with DAZN, TNT Group, and Amazon Prime.

Details of Prime’s agreement with PBC include Prime being the distributor of PBC’s Pay-Per-View content within the U.S., confirmed in a joint statement released by the pairing and it will begin in March 2024 as the first PPV broadcast of the partnership. Furthermore, Prime will also stream a PBC Championship Boxing series of events, with details of events and broadcast availability via Prime in the coming weeks, according to the statement.

“We are thrilled to join with Premier Boxing Champions to bring the best boxers in the world to Prime Video and to give more fans than ever the chance to experience these must-see events,” said Marie Donoghue, VP, U.S. sports content & partnerships, Amazon. “With live coverage of PBC action throughout the calendar year, Prime Video continues to bring viewers in the U.S. and around the world the best in sports.”

“Premier Boxing Champions is very proud to partner with Prime Video to showcase our world-class boxers and events. With Prime’s incredible reach and unprecedented marketing power, we’re very excited to reach new audiences for our sport as we continue to present the most exciting, competitive and biggest fights in Boxing,” said Bruce Binkow, CEO, Integrated Sports, exclusive agency for PBC.
