Plant-Benavidez both make weight ahead of grudge match

Former IBF world super-middleweight champion Caleb Plant and former two-time WBC world super-middleweight champion David Benavidez weighed in under the 168 lbs super-middleweight limit in one of the most anticipated fights of 2023. The contest is scheduled for twelve rounds, with Premier Boxing Champions promoting the event at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, NV.

Plant (22-1, 13KOs) took to the scales first and weighed in at 167.25lbs with Benavidez (26-0, 23KOs) following afterwards. Benavidez weighed-in comfortably under the weight limit, coming in at 166.75 lbs.

The pair then faced off against each other for the last time with a minor altercation, which saw Plant put his hand on Benavidez’s cheek and push back to Plant before security intervened.

The main event’s chief support sees Jesus Alejandro Ramos (19-0, 15KOs) taking on Joey Spencer (16-0, 10KOs) in a battle between two unbeaten super-welterweights. Both fighters weighed in at 152.25 lbs, respectively. The contest is scheduled for ten rounds.

Chris Colbert (16-1, 6KOs) weighed 134.5 lbs against Jose Valenzuela (12-1, 8KOs), with Valenzuela weighing in at 134 lbs even.

The undefeated Cody Crowley (21-0, 9KOs) will contest a WBC welterweight eliminator against Abel Ramos (27-5-2, 21KOs) over twelve rounds. Ramos weighed in the heavier man at 146 lbs, with Crowley coming in at 145.25 lbs.
