Israel Rodriguez Picazo takes on Ramon Cardenas in WNF special on February 16

Wednesday Night Fights returns for a special Friday edition on February 16 from the Whitesands Events Center in Plant City, Florida.

Israel Rodriguez Picazo locks horns with Ramon Cardenas in the main-event, a ten round duel at super bantamweight live and exclusive on ProBox TV.

Mexico’s Picazo (30-5, 20 KOs) defeated Wilner Soto with a fifth round stoppage last December in Orlando. The young 25-year-old veteran is 15 fights undefeated, his last loss coming all the way back in 2019, losing over 12 rounds to Eduardo Baez for the Mexican championship.

San Antonio’s Cardenas (23-1, 12 KOs) scored a second round knockout victory over the 15-0 Rafael Pedroza in his hometown this past September. The 28-year-old is undefeated in 11 fights, his only career defeat coming at the hand of Danny Flores by majority-decision nearly eight years in Monterrey, Mexico.

Jesus Saracho collides with Starling Castillo over ten rounds in the super lightweight division. Saracho (13-1-1, 11 KOs) was involved in a majority-decision draw with Tarik Zaina in Ontario, California last summer. The Mexican southpaw had previously defeated the unbeaten Cesar Francis to win the WBO latino title over the distance in Plant City.

Castillo (18-1-1, 13 KOs) scored a unanimous-decision win over the 12-0 Esteuri Suero this past May in Las Vegas. He shared the spoils with Kenny de Leon in the Dominican Republic in October the year before. His only defeat came against WNF’s Otar Eranosyan three years ago in Orlando.

Brazil’s Lucas Pontes da Silva (7-0, 7 KOs) squares off with Nigeria’s Efetobor Apochi (11-2, 11 KOs) in an international ten round attraction at cruiserweight. The televised broadcast will be opened by Californian prospect Joeshon James (8-0-2, 5 KOs) and veteran Vaughn Alexander (18-8-1, 11 KOs), an intriguing eight round match-up at middleweight.

WNF is available in both English and Spanish with commentary and analysis from former world champions Paulie Malignaggi, Chris Algieri and Juan Manuel Marquez.
