Mexican standout Oscar Alvarez impressed on his ProBox TV debut, scoring a technical decision victory over the game Nicholas Polanco.

19-year-old Alvarez came to ProBox TV with a lot of hype surrounding him, but was made to work in the early stages of his 8-round contest with Polanco, before taking over in the mid-rounds, displaying excellent body work.

The bout came to a halt in the seventh round due a head clash, with Alvarez being awarded the technical decision, with all three judges having him ahead on the cards.

Alvarez reflected on his victory, "I am happy that I got the victory, but I know I can do better, but everyday is a learning day in boxing and I know I will continue to improve."

"Polanco was experienced and he is a good fighter, I am happy I got these valuable rounds against a tough fighter in Polanco. It was a great learning fight for me, and I feel I showed maturity in this fight as I got better as the fight went on."

Alvarez has been backed for success by Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez and the towering super featherweight opened on having the support of Marquez and ProBox TV.

The Sonora native stated, "I like to fight, and I showed that. I like to bring action, and I wanted to show I am a television fighter on ProBox TV. I hope the fans liked my performance."

"Having the support of Juan Manuel Marquez is amazing. Marquez is one of my heroes, he is a legendary fighter, so to be able to get advice and support from a Mexican legend who boxed at the same weight I did is a dream come true. I have to thank my promotional team and of course ProBox TV for getting me this opportunity to develop under the eye of Marquez."
