Current unified world heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk, has officially signed with Saudi Arabian outfit Skill Challenge Entertainment. An official announcement will be made later today at 2 pm est (7 pm BST) by the promotional entity, which already has current WBC world cruiserweight champion Badou Jacked signed to the promotional firm.
Khaled Bin Abdulaziz unveiled Usyk’s imminent announcement via Instagram & is a member of the Saudi Royal family and chairman of Skill Challenge Entertainment.
However, Usyk’s upcoming mandatory world title defence against Daniel Dubois will not be held in Saudi Arabia and is all set to take place on August 26th in Wroclaw, Poland.
Skill Challenge Entertainment were previously involved in the logistics and hosting of the two contest’ in which Anthony Joshua participated in the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia, facing Andy Ruiz Jr & the Usyk as mentioned earlier famously last year in a rematch from their 2021 encounter. Usyk would dethrone Joshua of his WBA, IBF, WBO & IBO world titles in London over twelve rounds before repeating the result again in the middle east.
Skill Challenge Entertainment has been heavily linked with Uysk and WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in seeking to agree on terms with both fighters to contest the undisputed heavyweight title in Saudi Arabia. Famously Usyk had agreed to terms with the promotional entity to fight Fury in Saudi; however, Fury could not. This ultimately led to public negotiations for a proposed April 29th fight at Wembley Stadium, London, but once again, both fighters couldn’t agree to terms.
Further details will be available once Skill Challenge Entertainment formally announces their signing of Usyk.
