Nonito Donaire Will Not Fight Jason Moloney For Vacant WBC Bantamweight Title

Nonito Donaire will need a need to find a new opponent for his attempt at his fourth world title reign as Jake Donovan of BoxingScene.com confirmed that Jason Moloney, via his promoter Top Rank, have stated that they will not pursue the Nonito Donaire fight for the vacant WBC bantamweight title.

This comes weeks before the February 17th imposed deadline.

The belt was vacated once Naoya Inoue the four-belt bantamweight champion decided to move up to 122 lbs., and seemingly challenge Stephen Fulton Jr., next.

“The good news is that Nonito Donaire is a warrior who is willing to face anyone,” Schaefer said when speaking with Donovan of BoxingScene.com. “Our stance was always the same–Nonito Donaire was going to challenge for the WBC bantamweight title. We went to the WBC convention to declare our position which has not changed.”

This now is a trend as another Probellum fighter Regis Prograis was unable to land fights with Top Rank inc fighters as well recently.
