LAS VEGAS — Nonito Donaire, Isaac Cruz, and the other main PPV card fighters for the huge welterweight showdown involving Errol Spence Jr, 33, and Terence Crawford, 35, all made weight Friday.
The competitors fulfilled their weigh-in duties at a behind-closed-doors event inside the MGM Grand, before flexing in front of a big, pro-Crawford crowd at a ceremonial show at the nearby T-Mobile Arena later in the day.
Crawford and Spence’s weights were confirmed by ProBox TV earlier. The Nebraska native weighed 146.8-pounds while the Texan topped the scales at 147.
That left the 25-year-old Mexican Isaac Cruz and Giovanni Cabrera, 29, who weighed 134.5-pounds and 134.25-pounds respectively, ahead of their lightweight fight in the co-main Premier Boxing Champions event broadcast on Showtime Sports.
In a bantamweight attraction, Filipino former four-weight champ Nonito Donaire, 40, and Alexandro Santiago, 27, weighed 117.25-pounds and 117.5-pounds respectively ahead of their ruckus.
And, in a match between youth and experience, the 23-year-old prospect Yoenis Tellez weighed 155.5-pounds to confirm his fight against the 36-fight pro Sergio Garcia, who also weighed 155.5-pounds.
