It’s the last Showtime Boxing event on Saturday night, as the company will no longer put on fight cards. It will end on a high note as one of boxing’s hottest new markets, Minneapolis, MN, will host a super middleweight title fight. WBA super middleweight champion David Morrell (9-0, 8 KOs) will put his title on the line against Sena Agbeko (28-2, 22 KOs).
Morrell hasn’t been too busy this year, as his only fight was a first-round knockout over Yamaguchi Falcao in April. Morrell has been hard to match up with, as the fights against David Benavidez and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez aren’t on the horizon. For now, Morrell will have to continue to build his name against veteran fighters known to give fighters on the way up a hard time.
Agebko has had the same amount of activity as Morrell, with only one fight in 2023. Unlike Morrell, who fought in April, Agebko was in the ring two months ago and scored a TKO over Bruno Romay. Can Agebko play spoiler and derail the Morrell hype train, or will he become another knockout for the young Cuban champion?
In his PBC on FS1 debut, the highly touted Cuban amateur @OsvaryJ picked up right where he left off, knocking out Quinton Rankin in his 2nd professional bout by RD2 KO.
