We are in fight week for the much-anticipated rematch between WBA featherweight champion Mauricio ‘Bronco’ Lara (26-2-1, 19 KOs) and Leigh Wood (26-3, 16 KOs). It was just in February that these collided for the first time, and it was one of those times when the promotion matched how the fight played out. These two were throwing some thunderous shots, and although Wood was looking sharper, he got caught up in the moment and decided to slug it out and was the recipient of a hard left hook by Lara. Although Wood did get up, his trainer Ben Davidson threw in the towel, which ended the fight in the seventh round.
Now Wood looks to regain what he lost, which is the WBA crown, and Lara will again try to play spoiler as he did against Josh Warrington in 2021.
