Matias-Ponce For Vacant Super Lightweight Title Set For Feb.25th, Showtime

Subriel Matias and Jeremias Ponce now know when they will face one and another as they are set to fight on February 25th at The Armory in Minneapolis for the vacant IBF 140 lbs world title as part of a Showtime Championship Boxing triple-header.

Matias, the boogeyman of the division is having trouble finding willing opponents, but being a mandatory for the world title made his life much easier, whereas Ponce defeated Lewis Ritson, a highly-touted U.K, fighter to earn his spot.

The belt was relinquished by Josh Taylor, the former undisputed world champion on August 23rd, when he didn’t defend his belt against his mandatory challenger.
