Bob Santos might be the hottest trainer in boxing and will be the head coach of a former world champion, and two-time pay-per-view headliner, Mario Barrios.
Ryan Burton of BoxingScene.com was the first to report that the former super lightweight champion will now be training in Las Vegas rather than his previous home of Hayward, California with Vergil Hunter.
Santos has had the following big wins in 2022 such as Hector Luis Garcia's massive upset win over Chris Colbert in February, as well as coaching Alberto Puello to a world title and Carlos Adames to an interim title.
Santos made it clear Barrios is capable of being a two-time world champion.
Barrios is on a two-fight losing streak, but both losses came on pay-per-view with one being against Gervonta “Tank” Davis at 140 lbs., and one at 147 lbs., to former champion Keith Thurman.
Santos through his conversation with Burton believes that with one big win, Barrios will be back in the mix with all the big names in the division.
