It seems newly crowned IBF featherweight world champion Luis Alberto Lopez will likely face Michael Conlan, next year.
Lopez who defeated Josh Warrington in Warrington’s hometown, has been on a run as of late defeating Cristian Baez, Andy Vences, Gabe Flores, Isaac Lowe, and now Warrington. This streak has led to him being unbeaten in his last ten fights.
Conlan fought for a world title against Leigh Wood, unsuccessfully this year, getting stopped in the 12th and final round.
The hope from some is that the fight could land on St Patrick’s Day, in New York City, or Belfast, Ireland.
“I have matchmakers at Top Rank who told me that the kid had a hell of a shot with Warrington. I didn’t think so, but he was certainly able to handle him," Arum said when speaking to Talk Sport.“I think now the plan is to put him in with Mick Conlan some time next year… I think that’s the fight for Lopez that would attract the most interest on both sides of the pond.”
