In what was an overdue situation in boxing, we had an initial scale fail in Corpus Christi, TX. Joet Gonzalez (26-3, 15 KOs) came in at 126.4 lbs. during the initial weigh-in this afternoon. The IBF featherweight champion Luis Alberto Lopez (28-2, 16 KOs) weighed in at a trim 125.2 lbs. Gonzalez had two hours to make the remaining weight if he was to fight for the title. After less than an hour, Gonzalez made the featherweight limit of 126 lbs.
