Lomachenko Sets Sights on Devin Haney Showdown for Next Fight

Even without a world title, many pundits still think Vasyl Lomachenko is the best fighter in the division, despite Teofimo Lopez beating him, and George Kambosos Jr beating Lopez, which led to the musical chairs of Devin Haney winning four titles in Australia, as the two set to for battle on October 15th.

The CEO of Top Rank Inc., Bob Arum, is clear that the fight he wants to make the most of is between Devin Haney and Lomachenko for all four major world titles. Sure, Haney has a rematch with Kambsosos Jr, on October 15th, but that is a technicality for most, as Haney defeated Kambosos Jr in such a way that many are counting out Kambosos Jr., which could be a mistake by some.

Contrasting Lomachenko will face Jamaine Ortiz on October 29th in a fight broadcast solely on ESPN+, live from the Hulu Theatre, in New York City, New York.

“I prepare for this moment. I need this chance, this fight, undisputed, undisputed world champion,” said Lomachneko, when speaking on a Top Rank content platform.

Lomachenko Forced to Withdraw From Fight Against Kambosos Jr. Due to Ukraine-Russia Conflict

Lomachenko would’ve faced George Kambosos Jr., but due to his country, Ukraine being at war with Russia, Lomachenko could not fight during the time given, allowing Haney to defeat Kambosos Jr, earlier this year.

It is clear if Lomachenko and Haney both win, it is more than likely they’re next for each in 2023.
