Sources close to ProBox TV News have confirmed that the rematch between Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr is signed and will take place this summer in Manchester, England.
The AO Arena will host the grudge-match courtesy of BOXXER/Wasserman and will air on Sky Sports in the UK on their pay-per-view platform on June 17.
There had been talk of Eubank Jr (32-3, 23 KOs) switching direction despite confirming on social media that he would be activating his rematch clause against Smith. Conor Benn had been rumoured as a potential alternative. However, Eubank Jr has stayed true to his word with the second fight set to take place.
Former world champion, Smith (33-3-1, 20 KOs) scored an emphatic 4th round stoppage over Eubank Jr back in January. He had the Brighton man in serious trouble previously with two knockdowns before the fight was waived off at the end of a disastrous night for Eubank Jr.
It comes as no surprise that this one has been called for the summer. Eubank Jr went in as favourite for the first fight, the roles will surely be switched in the rematch.
