Leigh Wood vs. Leo Santa Cruz Ordered Again By WBA

It is safe to say, Leigh Wood is one of the most exciting fighters on the Matchroom roster.

This year, has been an on-again, off-again, mandate to fight Leo Santa Cruz, with yet another bit of negotiations as the WBA ordered a consolidation of the belt between the two WBA world champions, with a 15-day deadline put forth, and purse bid hearing occurring on December 12th, if no terms were come to.

Wood was set to fight Mauricio Lara on September 24th, but withdrew from the fight with a bicep injury. Santa Cruz won the WBA super featherweight title in January 2017, but hasn’t fought at this weight class over three years.

Hopefully this mess is sorted out.
