Kenshiro Teraji defended his light flyweight titles against Anthony Olascuaga in the main event on the Teiken promoted show in Tokyo.
Teraji won in impressive fashion as he continues to try and rule the kingdom of 108lbs. The man from Japan halted Olascuaga’s maiden world title challenge in the 9th round to get the stoppage victory.
Olascuaga came in at just ten-days notice, but came out firing in the 1st round, landing a right down the pipe. Teraji came into his own in just the 2nd round, displaying impressive boxing skills.
In round 3 Olascuaga’s gloves briefly touched the canvas after Teraji rocked him with the right hand at the end of the round.
With just five professional fight to his name, Olascuaga did himself no discredit, but the offensive tactics would ultimately be the undoing of of the American.
In round 9 the end would come. Teraji went to work with Olascuaga on the ropes, landing a flurry of shots to the head that sent the American to the canvas and almost through the ropes. Olascuaga picking up his first career defeat, his record moving to 5-1.
Teraji continues his good form as he looks to eat up the division moving his record to 21-1 (13 KOs). Sivenathi Nontshinga and Jonathan Gonzalez hold the other titles at light-flyweight.
“I woud love to win the WBO and IBF titles in this division,” stated Teraji after the fight. “Or I can move up to flyweight and fight for a title there. I have so many choices to consider.”
