2016 Olympic Bronze Medalist and new Boxxer promotional signing Joshua Buatsi (16-0) will mark his return to the ring as expected on May 6th in Birmingham at the world resorts arena live on Sky Sports. Light heavyweight, Buatsi’s opponent has been confirmed and he will face unbeaten Polish light-heavyweight Pawel Stepien (18-0-1), who was set to WBC light-heavyweight mandatory challenger Callum Smith earlier this month. However, Smith was forced to withdraw from the contest Stepien due to injury.

Buatsi joined Boxxer on a promotional deal following a to-date-career-long association with Matchroom boxing, having been signed to the rival promotional company having made his professional debut in July of 2017. Buatsi was last in action in May last year as he defeated Crag Richards on points at the O2 arena in London. One of Buatsi’s main reasons for joining BOXXER was the broad audience that Sky Sports could generate and voicing his frustrations on boxing on DAZN, the primary broadcaster of Matchroom Boxing events in the United Kingdom and globally.
Also featuring on the card will be 2020 Olympic medalists Lauren Price and Ben Whittaker.
Welterweight Price (3-0) was in action earlier this month with a comprehensive victory over Naomi Mannes in Paris via points, making a swift return as she looks to build upon her success in France to much acclaim. The Tokyo 2020 olympian has yet to have an opponent named at publication.
Whittaker (2-0) will be looking to make it 3-0 following a lengthy period out of action due to injury and to justify why he is one of the most exciting prospects in British boxing.
Furthermore, English middleweight champion Tyler Denny (16-2-3) returns on the bill also.
