Jose Ramirez Wants The Big Names At 140 lbs, Regis Disagrees

“I’m anxious to get back in the ring,” Ramirez stated to Pro Boxing Fans. "I don’t want no easy fights. Everybody’s a little busy so I’d rather just wait and see what happens between Zepeda and Regis, what happens between Catterall and Josh Taylor, and even Teofimo too. Teofimo and some of the other young 140-pounders are coming up so I’d take anybody, bro.”

Ramirez, who hasn’t fought since returning to the ring against Jose Pedraza in his native land of Fresno, California, wants all the marquee fights out there. As Ramirez, who is promoted by Top Rank Inc., trained by Robert Garcia, and managed by Rick Mirigian, has a powerful team around him that has set his career up the right way.

What is next? The former unified 140 lbs world champion is making it clear, he wants to be a two-time world champion.

Ramirez could’ve faced Jose Zepeda, but his wedding, which occurred in October ruined those plans. Instead, Regis Prograis will now get the shot at the vacant WBC super lightweight title, that Josh Taylor left by the wayside to rematch Jack Catterall at some point in the future.

Regis Prograis, the man who replaced Ramirez in the world title fight - quote tweeted the BoxingScene.com article on Twitter to have an expressive view of what was occurring.

“Bullshit,” said the fighter nicknamed after the swamp creature Rougarou. “Been trying to fight this dude since 2017.”

It is clear that Prograis, who has gone to Ramirez's fights in person in Fresno, California, actively campaigning for that bout, doesn’t buy that Ramirez wants to fight everybody.

Why does this matter? If Regis Prograis defeats Jose Zepeda, a bout between Regis Prograis and Jose Ramirez could be next.

A little foreshadowing and bad blood prior to a future match never hurt any fight for fight fans, did it? I dare say not.
