Jesse Rodriguez Makes Weight As He Seeks To Become Two-Weight World Champion Against Cristian Gonzalez

Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (17-0,11KOs) successfully made weight in his pursuit for a second world title as he faces Cristian Gonzalez (15-1, 5KOs) contesting the vacant WBO world flyweight title in his home town of San Antonio, Texas. The event is promoted by Matchroom Boxing and held at the Boeing Centre at Tech Port, San Antonio. 

Jesse Rodriguez weighed in comfortably under the 112lbs flyweight limit, with the scales reading 111.6lbs as he moves down a weight division after a fruitful spell as the WBC world super-flyweight champion. Gonzalez, who holds a record of fifteen wins against one defeat, came in at the championship limit of 112lbs. 

The co-main event saw Murodjon Akhmadaliev (11-0, 8KOs) weighing in at 121.6lbs as he defends his WBA & IBF world super bantamweight titles against Marlon Tapales (36-3, 19KOSs) of the Philippines. Staples, a former WBO world bantamweight champion, weighed 121.8 lbs. 

Raymond Ford (13-0-1,7KOs) takes a big step up in opposition as he faces former WBO super-bantamweight world champion Jessie Magdaleno (29-1 18KOs). The contest, which is taking place at featherweight, saw Ford and Magdaleno weigh in at the 126lb featherweight limit exactly. 

Thomas Mattice (20-3-1,15KOs) faces the undefeated Ramiro Cesena (16-0-1,13KOs) in a super-featherweight encounter. Mattice will defend his ranking within the WBC as he weighed in at 129 lbs, while Cesena weight in at the 130lb limit for the ten-round contest.

Israil Madrimov (8-0-1, 6KOs) came in at 158.8 lbs and will face Raphael Igbokwe (16-3, 7KOs) over ten rounds in a middleweight fight. Igbokwe came in at 160 lbs even.

Both Marc Castro (9-0, 6KOs) and Ricardo Torres (16-6-3,11KOs) came in comfortably under the 135lb lightweight limit weighing in at 133lbs and 133.6lbs, respectively, for a contest set for eight rounds.

Khalil Coe (4-0-1, 2KOs) came in at 175.8 lbs and faces James Quiter (6-1-1, 6KOs) over six rounds. Quiter weighed 174.8 lbs; however, there is an official allowance of one pound over the 175lb light-heavyweight limit. 

Jesus Martinez (3-0, 1KO) opens the promotion over four rounds as he faces Jose Lopez (4-2-1). Martinez weighed in at 119.4 lbs, and Lopez weighed in at 118.4 lbs.
